Elderly Chicago woman shot as she stands in her living room

Chicago police say a 70-year-old woman was shot to death as she stood in her living room on Chicago's South Side.

Police say Maggie Browder was hit at about 6:15 a.m. by a bullet fired from outside her home.

Officials say they believe the shooting was random, but they are also investigating a report that someone rang Browder's doorbell and fired at her as she went to the living room window to see who it was.

No one was in custody by Monday afternoon.
