Remember Easter as sacred holiday
Easter is the resurrection of Christ our Savior and a very important time for Christians all over the world.
It is not a secular holiday as many people want to believe, but a sacred holiday.
Both Christmas and Easter are sacred holidays to Christians. Merchants and people of different faiths would have you believe they are about the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus.
Easter and Christmas may have been pagan holidays at one time, but they were taken by Christians as an alternative to pagan worship.
It seems we are reverting back to pagan days of old. For children, Santa and the Easter Bunny are important as they are the wonderful fantasies of childhood, but when they get older, in Christian families, they are taught the real meaning of Easter and Christmas -- that Christ is the focus.
Holidays, celebrations and holy days are celebrated by most religions. No one calls them secular holidays. I am sure their children are told why these are important times and the real meaning of them.
Everyone has the right to worship as they wish. That is what makes this a great country and why so many people want to live here. We have freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.
