Teen ordered held in fatal shooting of sister

Authorities say the 15-year-old son of a Cook County Jail correctional officer will spend the next several months in jail for the fatal shooting of his 4-year-old sister in the Chicago Heights home last December.

The Cook County State's Attorney's office said Judge Michael Stuttley sentenced the teen Thursday to the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections until June 9, when his case will be reviewed again.

The 15-year-old was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter after he shot his sister in the chest as they were handling a gun that was kept in their family's apartment.

Chicago Heights police found Jalynn Hall dead on Dec. 2, 2007, after receiving reports of a shooting.
