It's time for U.S. to stop foreign aid
Eighty years ago as a young lad, I remember being told in Sunday School that giving your pennies and nickels (dimes were scare then) to the poor people in Africa was the right thing to do.
Since there were so many hungry children there, our little donations would help them grow up and become healthy adults. We, including many of our citizens and our government, did that for years but I don't recall that the need ever ceased. I do, however, remember that we made many wealthy dictators
Now, with our government in deep fiscal trouble, it would seem to be a good time to discontinue our freely handing out billions of dollars around the world.
Should there be a genuine need somewhere, our donations should be only American-made products and American-grown food.
This would help our unemployment problem and, perhaps, start to reverse the negative slide of our national debt. We need all the help we can get, even any aspiring presidential candidate's position would be nice.
