Model train show: Train enthusiasts of all ages are welcome at the Model Train Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, in the Hendrickson meeting room. The North Central O Gauger club will host the event with displays and information for hobbyists and collectors. Drop in; no registration needed at this free event.

Ready to Read enewsletter: Help children become aware of print before they learn how to read. Sign up to receive "Ready to Read," Arlington Library's newest e-newsletter. It provides literacy services for growing readers and features activities, books, and information about library programs geared for children from birth through preschool. Homework help: Free tutors in math, science, social studies and English for grades 4-12 are available from 2-10 p.m. daily at www.ahml.info, Kids' World, homework. Students may also e-mail their questions to the library or IM a librarian at www.ahml.info.

Tax help: For seniors aged 60 and older, there are free income tax counseling appointments with IRS-trained AARP tax aides. Sign up at the Reception desk, (847) 392-0100, or online at www.ahml.info. Appointments are available at 9, 10 or 11 a.m. Mondays through April 14 in the Hendrickson room.

There are state and federal tax forms and publications at the self-serve Tax Station, located near the Reference desk on the first floor. For more information on tax help, contact the Reference librarians at (847) 506-2634.

"Eugene Onegin": Lyric Opera preview lecture on "Eugene Onegin" by Peter Tchaikovsky begins at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in the second floor Hendrickson room. No registration needed for this free event sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
