Expert will teach you how to track animals

Our wildlife neighbors may be shy about showing themselves during winter months, but evidence of their presence is easy to spot. If you know what to look for and why.

Join a "Winter Wildlife Tracking" workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Pottawatomie Community Center, 8 North Ave., St. Charles.

Tracks, trail patterns, scat and other signs abound and are particularly easy to find during the cold-weather months. Instructor Pam Otto will share her skills and experience in deciphering animal clues. She will begin this interactive class indoors with an overview of local fauna and tracking techniques. Then you will then head outdoors to practice what you have learned.

"Winter Wildlife Tracking" is part of the Learn from the Experts series of programs that focus on topics in local ecology. The workshop is co-sponsored by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County and St. Charles, Geneva, and Fox Valley park districts.

"Winter Wildlife Tracking" is an adults-only program. Attendees are eligible for Kane County Certified Naturalist credit.

Registration is $5. Call (847) 741-8350, ext. 10, to register or for information.
