Gospel Choir to perform

A musically challenging and spiritually uplifting concert will be given by the College of Lake County Gospel Choir on Sunday.

"This promises to be our best concert in four years, achieving a new level of quality," said Charles Clency, director of choirs.

Several soloists will complement the 41-member choir. The soloists include Milas Armour, Gwethalyn Bronner, Denise Greenlee, Stephanie Jarrett, Jamia Lynn Miles, guest tenor Brian Smith, Daina Perry and Darryl Thomas.

The CLC Gospel Choir will perform several songs by Richard Smallwood, including "Holy Holy," "The Coronation" and "For Every Mountain."

The concert is at 4 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts on the CLC Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.

Concert tickets are $5 for the general public and $4 for CLC/seniors/children (price includes $1 JLC restoration fee). Tickets are available in person, at (847) 543-2300 or online at www.clcillinois.edu/tickets.

Soon to be wed topic for wine event

Vintner's Cellar Winery, 529 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, will host "An Evening for Brides-to-Be" on March 20.

The boutique wine shop and micro-winery, where people can blend and make their own customized wines, has partnered with Cloud 9 Bridal in Gurnee to present this program for brides-to-be and up to four guests.

There will be a 6 p.m. session and an 8 p.m. session. The event is free, but reservations are required.

Vanessa Varriale-Oien, owner of Vintner's Cellar Winery, will discuss varieties of wine and offer suggestions on the appropriate pairing of wines with menu choices.

She will also display her collection of custom labels, many of which take personalized photos, that can be created and affixed to wine bottles purchased at the shop.

Tami Wloch, owner of Cloud 9 Bridal in Gurnee, will continue the program with a discussion of current trends in bridal gowns and bridal party dresses and offer advice on how to effectively organize and plan for the wedding day.
