Other states act, but Illinois does nothing
In Valley Park, Mo., a law penalizing businesses that hire illegal immigrants has been upheld by U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber. He ruled the ordinance is not pre-empted by federal law.
In Arizona, the Legal Arizona Workers Act gives the state authority to suspend or revoke the business license of any employer found to have knowingly hired an illegal immigrant. U.S. District Judge Neal Wake upheld the law.
Oklahoma's illegal immigration bill became law despite protests and lawsuits. Illegal immigrants will not be allowed to find employment or receive taxpayer funded subsidies. State and local law enforcement will be able to detain them until they are deported. The law also restricts the ability to obtain government IDs or public assistance and makes it a felony for a U.S. citizen to knowingly provide shelter, transportation or employment to illegal immigrants.
What is the state of Illinois doing about these issues? Nothing.
