New Kane County jail still a problem

The decision to build the new Kane County jail was reckless and ignored the wishes of the residents.

The results of the past referendum indicated that voters did not support a tax hike to fund a new jail, by a 2 to 1 margin.

Despite those figures, the current administration went ahead with a $59.5 million plan anyway.

To make matters worse, the jail will be overcrowded the day it opens, and Kane County will still be spending close to $2 million per year to bus inmates to other county correctional facilities.

Leadership is about good, sound decision-making.

If this is an example, Karen McConnaughay lacks the ability to make intelligent decisions on behalf of Kane County residents.

It's time for a change. I'm voting for Jim MacRunnels.
