Briefs: Hotline for election

Kane County voters with complaints about the special March 8 election to fill the vacant 14th Congressional District seat can call the Kane County state's attorney office. Prosecutors will staff the hotline at (630) 208-5328 to field reports from anyone who notices electioneering, illegally placed voting signs, denial of voting rights or other possible illegal activity. The hotline is for election reporting violations . Voter information questions can be answered at the Kane County clerk's Election Help Line at (630) 232-5990.

Saturday volunteers sought:

Christ Community Church in St. Charles is seeking volunteers to participate in its monthly 2nd Saturday program. Volunteers are needed to sort food donations, visit nursing homes and spend time with severely disabled people. People can volunteer by going to one of the church's three locations in St. Charles, DeKalb and Blackberry Creek by 8:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month for transportation to a work site. Sunny Ridge Family Center will have a free adoption information meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles. Visitors will learn about adopting children from the United States, China, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, the Philippines and other countries. Students offer tax help

Individuals with incomes of less than $39,000 can get help preparing their income tax returns from Benedictine University students and faculty. The service will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Nichols Library, 200 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville. The service is sponsored by the Notre Dame Club of Greater DuPage County.
