Where is Kirk's support for vets?

Congressman Mark Kirk professes to be a staunch supporter of veterans.

Unfortunately, his efforts to initiate legislation benefiting veterans do not back up his claims.

The Disabled American Veterans Web site lists 47 veterans' legislative initiatives that came before the House of Representatives in 2007.

Congressional Republicans sponsored more than half. Kirk sponsored none. However, he did co-sponsor three: one was substantive and related to disability compensation; another for a disabled veteran's memorial in Washington, D.C.; and the third for a commemorative coin.

In his most recent radio commercial, Kirk states the following: "Caring for my fellow veterans is my top priority." If veterans are number one, I'd hate to be number two.
