Library sculpture stolen

Chicago police say a stainless-steel sculpture that stood at the entrance of the Newberry Library since 2005 has been stolen. Newberry Library president David Spadafora says "Umanita," which means humanity in Italian, was stolen between Saturday night and Monday afternoon, when a security officer realized the 6-foot-high, 150-pound contemporary sculpture was missing.
