O'Connor gets a kick out of DePaul

Big lights, big city, Big East.

They made Susie O'Connor's big decision easy.

The Antioch senior recently signed a letter of intent to continue her education and soccer career at DePaul University starting in the fall.

The Blue Demons' field rests on the shores of Lake Michigan.

"I'm ready to go now and play," O'Connor said. "I've always wanted to go there. I really liked the campus, it's in the city of Chicago and it's close to home. My parents and friends can come and watch the games."

O'Connor, a midfielder/forward, started on Antioch's varsity as a freshman in 2005, but spent the last two springs playing club for the Eclipse.

She'll play high school soccer this spring.

"Playing club ball helped me out a lot," O'Connor said. "It definitely helped me get better with my ball skills and helped me stay in shape."

O'Connor could wind up contributing for DePaul immediately.

"Susie has great quickness and pace, and will add a great dimension to our forward line," DePaul coach Erin Chastain said. "She's intense and has an incredible work rate."

In Chastain's first season as head coach last fall, DePaul went 5-13-1 overall and 2-9 in the Big East.
