Stimulus package will up the debt

The stimulus package rebate checks will do little to buck up an economy which is unfortunately being portrayed and perceived by many Americans as being in recession. Even so, Democrats in the Senate tried to expand the rebates to even more people, while standing firm against tax cuts.

If Congress really wanted to help the economy, it would cut tax rates and prevent tax increases so the American people could keep more of their money in their own pockets to spend.

The rebates checks will only increase this nation's already astronomical debt. The adoption of a stimulus package to jump start an economy that would most likely right itself if left alone is nothing but a political year ploy by both political parties and President Bush to make American voters feel good in a year where soliciting votes is all important.
