A Grayslake-based group that has been pushing for reform of the property tax system will host a one-time event Sunday. Ralph Martire, executive director ofr the Center for Tax and Budget accountability will discuss current property tax and education funding reform proposals in Illinois during the fundraiser for nonprofit Citizen's Action Project. The event is at 4 p.m. at the Byron Colby Barn, Jones Point Road and Route 45, Grayslake. Suggested donation is $20 at the door. The group formed last year and published a paper alleging uneven treatment of properties during the assessment process. Visit www.citizensactionproject.org.
Chamber expo set
The Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 17th annual Business & Community Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 15 at Lake Zurich High School, 300 Church St., Lake Zurich. More than 120 local businesses and community organizations will showcase their newest products and services in the high school Field House and Tonelli Gym. Event entertainment will be provided by the Lake Zurich Flames Elite Cheerleaders, performers from the Trilogy School of Performing Arts and Denise Sabala Dance Studio, bands and choirs from the Lake Zurich elementary schools, Dave Dinaso's Traveling World of Reptiles, and performers from "High School Musical." Food will be available. The event is free and open to the public. Free parking will be available in the high school's lower parking lot. A free trolley will transport attendees to the expo. The event will include informational and fun exhibits on physical therapy, jewelry, cosmetics, chiropractors, money management and language classes.
