St. Charles man accused of sex abuse

A St. Charles man Friday was in jail on $150,000 bond, accused of sexually abusing a teenager, authorities said.

Jamie Sanchez-Quiroz, 31, is charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. In court on Friday, he asked a Kane County judge to allow him a week to hire a private attorney.

Police arrested Sanchez-Quiroz, of the 1900 block of Wessel Court, on Monday, said prosecutor Sam Partida, with the county's child advocacy center.

Investigators accuse him of fondling and sexually assaulting the teenager, now 17, since August, Partida said.

Sanchez-Quiroz also faces misdemeanor charges of distributing harmful materials, a case Geneva police opened last year, court records show.

In those allegations, he is accused of giving a youngster a cell phone that contained images of naked adults, the records show.

Sanchez-Quiroz has not been indicted, and prosecutors are determining whether to file additional charges, Partida said.

Sanchez-Quiroz is due in court again Feb. 7 before Judge Allen Anderson.
