Armed citizenry the best deterrent

It seems another lunatic has killed someone in yet another "gun-free zone." When will the state government see its way clear to grant us the privilege of being able to defend ourselves?

If a properly trained average citizen with a concealed carry license were present they may have been able to avert the crime completely.
