Long Grove approves TIF district

The Long Grove village board gave unanimous approval to establishing a tax increment financing district downtown and on Route 83 Tuesday. Five board members, with Trustee Joseph Barry absent, agreed to the move that the board had been discussing since 2006. The board also addressed a petition from Long Grove residents that would have put the TIF issue to a referendum in November. Village attorney Vic Filippini said that regardless of the petition, the board is obligated to vote on the TIF within 90 days of the public hearing, which expires in April.
