Production halted at Belvidere plant
BELVIDERE -- The United Auto Workers union says an "unanticipated parts shortage" has halted production at Chrysler's assembly plant in Belvidere. Production ceased with Wednesday's first shift. Chrysler spokesman Roger Benvenuti said the company doesn't know when work will resume and is taking the shutdown "shift by shift." Not all workers in Belvidere are affected by the shutdown.
