Wolves turn on the power (play)

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Chicago Wolves notched 2 power-play goals late in the opening period, and goaltender Ondrej Pavelec turned away 23 of the 24 shots in a 3-1 win over the Iowa Stars at Wells Fargo Arena on Friday night.

Jason Krog, Brett Sterling and Alexandre Giroux notched goals, and Joel Kwiatkowski added 2 assists for the Wolves who earned their eighth win in their last nine starts and have allowed only 10 goals during that span.

The Wolves (39-13-2-0) lead both the West Division and Western Conference with 80 points and rank second in the American Hockey League with 39 victories. The Wolves' 80 points in 54 games is the most in franchise history.
