Genoa woman charged with identity theft in Sugar Grove
A Genoa woman was arrested this week in connection with an identify theft case in Sugar Grove, police said Friday.
Alicia C. Irlbeck, 24, of the 200 block of Hardsall Street, was arrested about 4 p.m. Thursday at her home. She was charged with identity theft and unlawful use of a credit card.
Irlbeck's mother, Deborah Irlbeck, 46, of Harter Road in Kaneville was arrested by Sugar Grove police Dec. 15 and charged with identity theft and forgery in the same case.
In December, Deborah Irlbeck was charged with filing a false police report in February 2007 after claiming she and her boyfriend were victims of identity theft. Police said it was Deborah Irlbeck who had been using the fraudulent account.
According to Sugar Grove police investigator John Sizer, it was discovered that a credit card account had been opened in the victim's name with an address in Dayton, Ohio, where Alicia Irlbeck was receiving her mail. The victim, Deborah Irlbeck's former boyfriend, lives in Sugar Grove.
Police said they believe that both mother and daughter used the account numerous times in both Ohio and Illinois during 2006.
Alicia Irlbeck was released after posting $5,000 in cash on a $50,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear March 4 in Kane County court.
