Sen. Terry Link cancels fundraiser

A scheduled fundraising event Friday for a Lake County politician has been scrubbed because of the wake for Adeline Geo-Karis, a longtime state legislator.

Democratic state Sen. Terry Link of Waukegan made the announcement regarding his fundraiser this afternoon.

"I am canceling my event out of respect for the passing of former state Sen. Adeline Geo-Karis," Link said in a statement.

Geo-Karis' wake will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Illinois Beach Resort and Conference Center near Zion, which is on a park carrying her name. The wake will be in the Illinois Ballroom.

Link served with the Republican Geo-Karis in the state Senate from 1997 to January 2007.

"Representing Lake County, we worked together on many issues. Her legacy of public service is one that every legislator aspires to," Link said.
