Conservatives won't sell out for McCain

This is regarding a Feb. 10 article in the Daily Herald, "McCain has GOP upbeat in Illinois." Memo to state Sens. Kirk Dillard and Christine Radogno, self-described proud Republican moderates: As a rock-solid Reagan conservative let me say rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated! Formidable foes, these moderate Republicans! Just ask Gov. Blago, Dick Durbin and Obama! Pitiful!

Conservatives will not flock to the polls like lemmings off a cliff to compromise their principles and vote for yet another pseudo-Republican. Conservative media outlets have been inundated with Republican Party activists who say they will not vote for McCain. He will not win in November without the conservative base regardless of how many independents he attracts. Sixty-percent of Republican primary voters were conservatives.

McCain is supposedly strong on terrorism, yet he opposes submerging some Islamo-Fascist's head under water for a few seconds to find out if Chicago is about to become a parking lot! A proven successful interrogation technique. He wants to close Club Gitmo and bring the "head-loppers" back to the states so the ACLU can have them released pro bono! McCain is against drilling in Anwar, a vast frozen wasteland where cockroaches can't survive, keeping us dependent on terrorist oil. And fighting terrorism is his strong suit?

McCain and his moderate friends have some yeoman's work ahead convincing conservatives of his recent vapid conservative credentials. Failing to pick a rock-ribbed conservative running mate will be his Waterloo. Fortunately for McCain, the possibility of "The Hillbillary Pathological Lying Show-The Sequel" or Obama the "Empty Suit" who sounds so good saying nothing, are repugnant alternatives for conservatives! Conservatives needed the abysmal Jimmy "Hostage Crisis" Carter to advance the conservative agenda in 1980, championed by the conservative icon, Ronald Reagan. Either way, Sen. McCain, it's your move!
