Historical society plans party

The Des Plaines Historical Society will hold a "Leapin' Lizards" raffle drawing and party Friday, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the society and leap year.

"Leapin' Lizards" raffle tickets are available for purchase at the History Center, 781 Pearson St. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. Tickets can be purchased in advance or the day of the drawing. Prizes include a Nintendo DS Lite, iPod nano, Magellan GPS navigation system, gift certificates for local businesses and much more. Call (847) 391-5399 for details.

The Historical Society will also hold a 40th Anniversary party the evening of the raffle drawing, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker. The event will feature an assortment of desserts and cheeses, fun and games for the whole family and the announcement of raffle drawing winners.

Tickets for the party cost $5 per person, and $1 for children ages 12 and under. Leap year babies receive free admission. To purchase tickets for the event, call the History Center at (847) 391-5399 no later than today.
