Lost in translation? Cubs hope not
MESA, Ariz. -- Things settled down considerably Saturday. The Japanese media corps was whittled down pretty much to the beat reporters who will be covering Cubs right fielder Kosuke Fukudome all year.
The Cubs did hand out a "Japanese vocabulary" sheet that featured not only commonly used expressions but also a chart of the human body, or "karada."
From covering the Cubs on their trip to Japan in 2000, I know that "good morning" is "ohayo" (like "Ohio") and "hello" is "konnichiwa."
That's it for now. Until next time, or "mata kondo."
