Preschool Open House: The Elk Grove Park District Preschool is hosting its annual open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the preschool facility in the Hattendorf Center, 225 E. Elk Grove Blvd. During the open house, participants will tour the classrooms, meet the staff and learn about the curriculum. Sweetheart Special for National Heart Month: The Pavilion Fitness Centre, 1000 Wellington, is offering a sweetheart special for the month of February. There will be no enrollment fee to join Pavilion Fitness with the annual payment made in full or 50 percent off the enrollment fee with the monthly payment options. Free Golf Conditioning Clinic: The Pavilion Fitness Centre is sending personal trainers to Fox Run Golf Links to demonstrate the proper stretching and exercises for golfers. The personal trainers will participate one-on-one with golfers so that they may practice the exercises designed to condition a golfer for the upcoming season. The Conditioning Clinic will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 26, and from 7 to 8 p.m. at Fox Run Golf Links, 333 Plum Grove Road, Elk Grove Village. There is no cost for this clinic but reservations are required. (847) 228-3544.

Pavilion Lobby Expo: The Elk Grove Park District will be hosting an exposition to showcase all the park district facilities from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 25 and 26 in the Pavilion lobby, 1000 Wellington. Representatives from all areas of the district will be available. There will be raffles and prizes along with employment opportunities and general information on each facility. There will be chances to win daily passes, tanning sessions, tickets to events and much more by attending. Call (847) 228-3512.

Tax help: Seniors age 60 and over with incomes of less than $60,000 may sign up at the Elk Grove Sheila Ray Adult Center, 225 E. Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove Village to have their 2007 federal and state income tax returns prepared. Both electronic and paper filing is available. Tax returns are prepared from 9 a.m. to noon Fridays through April 11, and Wednesdays through April 9. AARP trained and certified volunteers prepare the returns in this IRS-AARP Tax-Aide service. Federal forms 1040 EZ, 1040A, and 1040 with schedules for interest, dividends, itemized deductions, and capitol gains can be prepared. Also forms C-EZ and ES for persons with self employment income and expenses under $2,500. The Tax-Aide service cannot prepare complicated returns including Schedule C profit or loss from business, Schedule E rents and losses, Form 8606 nondeductible IRAs, out-of-state gambling winnings and out-of-state sale of property. Pirate's Cove: The Pirate's Cove Children's Theme Park, 901 Leicester Road, is a hands-on amusement park for children ages 2 to 9 years. Pirate's Cove is $8 per child and adults are always free. Public hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The park is closed on Sundays. This year will feature a special event every Friday.
