$12 million in fire damage at boat storage facility
A fire at a boating storage unit in Winthrop Harbor on Friday caused nearly $12 million in damage, but no one was injured. According firefighters, the blaze broke out at 8:26 a.m. at North Point Marina. More than 20 departments from northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin battled the fire for more than six hours. Several boats were damaged. The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause.
