Briefs: Decision delayed on death penalty
Prosecutors delayed a decision Friday on pursing the death penalty against a Kenosha man accused of murdering a woman during a robbery. Monetago Suggs, 24, is charged with killing Melinda Morrell, 23, of Round Lake Park, during a robbery of a check-cashing business on May 21. Suggs is also accused of trying to kill two other people during an attempted robbery of a Beach Park grocery five days after Morrell was slain. Police said the two people in the second robbery were spared because Suggs had not properly loaded the weapon he held to the back of their heads and attempted to fire. Defense attorney Randie Bruno asked Circuit Judge Fred Foreman to grant her more time to discuss the case with her client and to allow her client time to speak with his family about his options. Foreman rescheduled the announcement for March 14. Suggs is held without bond in the Lake County jail.
