Habitat for Humanity notes
Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley has three fundraisers lined up, which promise to ease the doldrums of the season.
On Saturday, the annual Spring Walk-a-Thon will be held at Spring Hill Mall. Many local high schools are sending groups to participate and compete for a trophy for the school team or group that generates the most money for Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley's 2008 build season.
"Not only are individuals welcome, we are also looking for youth groups to participate. Sports trophies are great, but how about a community service trophy for your high school or church trophy case," said Bill Klaves, director of development.
Youth groups interested in being a part of this year's event can call Bill or Lisa Uidl at (847) 836-1432 or visit www.hfhnvf.org.
On April 5, Habitat will hold it largest annual fundraiser, "Dream Builders Soiree III," which includes a live and silent auction. This year, the event will be held at the historic Baker Hotel in St. Charles.
Join Habitat for a Taste of the Fox as chefs from the area's finest restaurants will provide samplings of favorite dishes.
Participating restaurants include Niche, Fahrenheit, Szechwan, St. Charles Place, Dimitri's and ZaZa's. Those participating for desserts include Grahams, Cocoa Cabana and Cocoa Bean.
"This is one of our most exciting and best attended events. We have wonderful auction items and the food is going to be fabulous," said Barb Beckman, executive director.
"Plus, you just can't beat the ambience of the Baker Hotel. However, most important is that this event is critical to our success in raising enough funds to build homes in the Fox Valley for families in need."
Anyone interested in attending the event or donating an item for the silent or live auction should call Habitat at (847) 836-1432.
