Mass transit bailout not a good deal
Isn't it wonderful how the Democratic leaders in Illinois bailed out mass transit. There is one problem, however. According to Sandy Cole (state rep from Grayslake), as part of the legislation which took months and millions of wasted tax dollars to develop, we now lose the sales tax exemption on food and medicine. So now you get to pay more for your food and medicine. Woo hoo!
I find this particularly interesting because I never heard this part of the legislation mentioned on any of the television news networks. Either the networks are so inept they couldn't figure out what was in the legislation or they are so biased they didn't want to embarrass the officials of our Democratically controlled state.
According to Ms. Cole, this piece of legislation is estimated to cost Lake County $71 million in new sales taxes this year alone. Will the lemmings who vote a straight Democratic ticket ever wake up?
The elderly who get "free" rides on the transit system, now get socked on their food and medicine. I guess the rides aren't so free after all.
Did anybody really vote for Gov. Blagojevich, Mike Madigan, Todd Stroger?
