Two hurt in Grayslake crash
Two people were hurt Wednesday in a three-vehicle accident in Grayslake, police said.
The crash occurred about 11:50 a.m. on Route 45 near Arbor Vista Drive and forced authorities to shut down Route 45 between routes 120 and 137 for about two hours.
Nestor P. Jovanovic, 68, of Grayslake was driving a Volkswagen and turning from westbound Arbor Vista onto northbound Route 45 when he was hit by a northbound Ford pickup truck, Grayslake police said.
The impact pushed Jovanovic's car into a southbound Toyota pickup truck, police said.
Jovanovic was trapped in his vehicle until he was freed by firefighters. He was then flown by emergency helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
His medical condition was not available.
The driver of the Ford pickup truck also was hurt. He was identified as Stanley S. Cisek, 45, of Waukegan.
Cisek was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was in guarded but stable condition in an intensive care unit, a hospital supervisor said.
The driver of the Toyota, 54-year-old John W. Albert of Round Lake, wasn't hurt, police said.
No tickets were issued Wednesday. The accident remained under investigation Wednesday night by Grayslake police and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
