North Barrington trustee steps down

North Barrington Village Trustee Rick Contorno is stepping down from the board nearly three years into his first term.

Village President Bruce Sauer said Contorno, a financial adviser, officially resigned Wednesday, saying he was moving out of the community for business reasons.

Sauer said he will miss working with Contorno, who was elected in April 2005.

"I enjoyed working with Rick a lot," Sauer said. "He brought a wonderful, open-minded attitude to the board."

Contorno could not be reached for comment Thursday.

The process of replacing him already has begun.

Sauer said he's already selected a nominee for the post. That person, whom Sauer declined to identify, must go through a ratification process by the entire board.

If the board consents, the new trustee could begin serving on the board in March.
