Osiris Eldridge scored a team-high 17 points on 4-of-7 shooting to lead Illinois State past Evansville 74-66 at the Redbird Arena in Normal on Saturday night.
The win gives the Redbirds (13-3, 5-0 Missouri Valley) their first eight-game winning streak since the end of the 1991-92 season.
Boo Richardson chipped in 11 points and 2 assists, and Dom Johnson added 10 points, all in the second half, for the Redbirds.
Shy Ely had a game-high and career-high 28 points for the Purple Aces (5-10, 0-5 MVC) on 10-of-18 shooting from the field.
Illinois State took a 34-25 lead into the half.
Evansville trimmed the Redbirds' lead to 47-44 after Darin Granger hit a 3-pointer at the 8:57 mark in the second half, capping an 11-5 run over three minutes for the Purple Aces.
Illinois State dominated in the game's final minutes, hitting 13 of 16 free throws in the last 3:41.
Bradley 75, N. Iowa 73: Jeremy Crouch scored 20 of Bradley's last 26 points, and the Braves (8-9, 1-4 Missouri Valley) beat host Northern Iowa (10-6, 2-3). Crouch finished with 28 points and hit 6 of 8 3-pointers.
Indiana St. 64, SIU 62 (2 OTs):ŒMarico Stinson scored 20 points and hit the game-winning 3-pointer with less than two seconds left to give host Indiana State (9-6, 4-1) a double overtime win over Southern Illinois.
Downers South product Bryan Mullins led Southern Illinois (7-9, 2-3) with 18 points.
WIU 83, N. Dakota St. 67: Sophomore David Nurse scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead host Western Illinois (8-8, 3-2) to a win over North Dakota State (8-9, 2-4).
Chicago St. 85, Utah Valley St. 76: David Holston scored 28 points and had 9 assists to lead host Chicago State (6-13) to a victory over Utah Valley State (6-12).
