The curse extends to Japan

TEMPE, Ariz. -- It was a day off for Kosuke Fukudome on Saturday, but there's always Fukudomania.

During the morning workout back in Mesa, a Japanese comedian of sorts, Red Yoshida, bounced around the complex in a Cubs cap and jersey (Major League Baseball credentialed him; go ask MLB), with a camera crew tagging along.

"Oh, a new player," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said when Yoshida asked for an interview.

Piniella patiently suffered Yoshida, whom Japanese reporters said does TV work back home. When Yoshida was done with his interview (which he conducted in Japanese, with help from an interpreter of sorts), he made a braying sound.

Oh, that's right. The billy goat.
