Man indicted in slaying of kidnapped woman
The former boyfriend of a slain pharmaceutical representative was indicted Friday.
Cook County state's attorney spokesman Andy Conklin says Reginald Potts was indicted on 16 counts of first-degree murder, four counts of aggravated kidnapping and one count each of vehicular hijacking and robbery in the death of 28-year-old Nailah Franklin.
Prosecutors say Franklin had an "on-and-off dating relationship for several months" with Potts. She was no longer speaking to Potts when she sent an e-mail to friends discussing his criminal history.
The prosecutor said when the 31-year-old Potts learned of the e-mail, he began making threatening phone calls to Franklin.
She was reported missing by her family September 19. Her body was found eight days later in woods in Calumet City
