We should support Kaneland on Feb. 5

Please support the Kaneland school district referendum by voting yes on Feb. 5.

If you have seen the pictures of the mass of students in the hallway between classes, you can see how overcrowded the middle school is. When the students tell you that it takes most of the lunch break to get their hot lunch, you can tell that the middle school is overcrowded.

When you hear that there are 4 gym classes being conducted in one gym, you can imagine how little physical activity is being conducted due to the lack of space, you know that the school is overcrowded.

The current middle school was built 30 years ago. The school board at that time made a tough decision to construct a building that most people thought was too large and would never be filled. To their credit, this school has served the district beyond expectations.

The school board, who we elect to make decisions, is telling us, the voters, to support this building referendum. Waiting until now has saved the district from over building. The school board is now telling us that the time is now to build a new middle school. Vote yes on Feb. 5.
