Government at work for us? Ha!

President Bush and our highly respected (ha!) Congress are scrambling to put together an "Economic Stimulus Package" likely costing $145 billion (from our country's savings account, of course) due to fears our economy is slipping into recession. Their plan is to send us all a check.

Does anybody besides me remember that President Bush and Congress at the last minute slapped a one-year fix on the Alternative Minimum Tax which would have ensnared up to 20 million taxpayers? Their failure to act in a timely manner means that millions of taxpayers expecting refunds in January will have to wait until late February to receive their refunds while the IRS remakes Form 8863.

Would not the tax refunds, had they been received on time, been an economic stimulus?

Our government at work for us (ha!).
