St. Charles Mothers' Club: The St. Charles Mothers' Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at Hosanna! Lutheran Church, Randall and Red Gate roads in St. Charles. The guest speaker this month is Dr. Michael Maniacci. He will be leading a workshop on "Encouragement -- A Key To Parenting." Any prospective member is invited to this meeting.

Audubon Society: The Kane County Chapter of the Audubon Society meets for programs and activities.

Fox Valley Newcomers and Neighbors: The Fox Valley Newcomers and Neighbors Club will host a Get-Acquainted Membership Coffee at 10 a.m. Jan. 22 at the home of member Elaine Seeley. New club members and those who are interested in learning more about what the club offers and in meeting others with similar interests are encouraged to attend.

Although it is primarily a social organization, members also enjoy participating in community service and each year they undertake one or more charitable, humanitarian, or social welfare projects.

The group meets regularly from September through May via special interest groups and monthly luncheons.

The luncheon meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at many of the local restaurants in the Fox Valley area. The events are open to all current members, prospective members and guests with prepaid reservations.

The annual membership fee of $25 provides you with a membership directory and a monthly newsletter that recaps the upcoming monthly events and activities.

If you are new to the area, had a lifestyle change, or just looking for a friendly, social organization to become involved in, join them.

Plain Dirt Gardeners: Jack Shouba visits the Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners on Feb. 19 to do a show on the Lake Michigan Dunes. His program moves beyond the sand and water to the flora and fauna of the area. The program will be at 6:45 p.m. with a business meeting, followed by the 7:30 presentation at the Batavia Public Library, off Route 31 in Batavia. Everyone is welcome. The St. Charles Mothers' Club: The club invites all area mothers and children 7 and under to a special playgroup at Jump'n Jiminy, 1900 E Tyler Road Suite 300 in St. Charles from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday.

The usual cost for open jump is $7/child but if you mention you are with the Mothers' Club, you will save $2. The St. Charles Mothers' Club normally sponsors a weekly playgroup for members and their children every Thursday from 10 to 1:30 am.

Kaneland W.I.N.S., Women-Insight Network Service: The first luncheon of the New Year is Tuesday at Mill Creek Golf Club, at 39W525 Herrington Drive in Geneva. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and fellowship to follow until 1 p.m. The speaker will be Jeanne Harms, president of Organize Inc., who will introduce attendees to basic organizing skills that will help de-clutter as well as organize any area. Cost of the luncheon is $15 for members and $25 for nonmembers. RSVP to (630) 945-7086 to reserve your seat. New members are warmly welcome.

The service project for January is Breaking Free Family Support Programs, substance abuse. Members are requested to bring new stickers, candy, small toys, or school supplies to be used as incentives in after-school kid's programs. Kaneland W.I.N.S. is a not-for-profit organization providing Kaneland area women opportunities for personal and professional development, networking and service to the community.

Dance Connection: It is a ballroom dancing club for people looking to learn ballroom from just social to others looking to compete. It meets Sunday afternoons from 2 to 3:30 at the St. Charles School of Dance. 1429 W Main St., St.

The Exchange Club of the Tri-Cities: The club meets at 7 a.m. every Tuesday at Colonial Restaurant, 2036 West Rt. 38, St. Charles. Upcoming speakers are Wesley Yi, Veterans Service Officer, Department of Veterans Affairs this week and, on Jan. 22, Grace Bryer will speak about a mission to China.

Kiwanis

Batavia chapter of Bachelor 'N' Bachelorettes Square Dancing Club: The club is dancing in St. Charles this season, every second and fourth Friday from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church, 3rd and Walnut St. near Route 64 and Route 31.
