Energy conference planned

The governors of Minnesota and Wisconsin will try to broaden support for a set of regional clean energy goals next month in Chicago. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle held a joint news conference Wednesday to announce plans to co-host the "Energy Transition 2050" conference. The Midwestern Governors Association conference for government, business and nonprofit organizations will happen February 11-12. The governors worked together last year on two Midwest energy pacts, including a plan to develop a regional cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions. They also want to increase the use of renewable energy throughout the Midwest.
