Dads turn out for sweet treat at Roslyn Road School
As a way to highlight the importance of having solid family relationships, Roslyn Road School in Barrington recently hosted a sugar-filled event for its students and their dads.
Several hundred, all with big appetites, turned out for the school's annual "Donuts for Dads" event.
Principal Paul Kirk said the event is held as a way to strengthen the school community.
"This is a community builder," Kirk said. "The event is partnered with Muffins for Moms (held in February)."
The breakfast gave the students a chance to bring their dads into school for an hour one morning to meet the other parents, teachers and students.
"It was just giving people some time to chat," Kirk said.
This is the fourth year the school has held the dads-only breakfast.
"It really is gaining in popularity each year," Kirk said. "It is getting to the point where the whole school shows up."
The event was hosted by the school's Character Counts committee.
