Forum set for McHenry board Dist. 6 race

A candidate forum for McHenry County Board District 6 is scheduled at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Marengo Community High School auditorium, 110 Franks Road, Marengo.

The forum is sponsored by Marengo-Union Chamber of Commerce, and will be moderated by Kim Meyers, a lawyer with Pollock, Meyers & Eicksteadt, LLP.

Five Republican and three Democratic are running for two open seats. District 6 encompasses more than 10 townships in the western half of the county. Geographically it covers more than half the county land, although only less than 20 percent of the population.

The seats that are not up for re-election in District 6 are those of Mary McCann and Dan Ryan.

Randy Donley's seat is up for re-election. He has served the county as a board member for two years.

The other seat is that of Mary Lou Zierer, who is not running in this election, but will complete her term. Zierer has worked as a board member for 15 years.

The forum will be open to any interested voters in District 6, which includes Alden, Hebron, Harvard, Marengo and Union.

All candidates were invited to participate in the forum, which will include some prepared questions, as well as questions from the audience.
