DuPage Children's Museum notes
The DuPage Children's Museum, 301 N. Washington St., Naperville, is a not-for-profit organization. Programs are free with museum admission, unless otherwise noted.
Admission is $7.50 for visitors ages 1 to 59; $6.50 for ages 60 and older; and $88 for family memberships.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Start in art: Children ages 2 and 3 discover the connections between images and the written work as they sculpt, paint, create colorful collages and then invent stories about their creations Wednesday and Jan. 16 and 23. Sessions are offered from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $35 for adult members and a child, $40 for nonmembers.
Just for grown-ups: Veteran speech pathologist, author, parent-educator and life coach Anne Felt discusses emotional intelligence and children's learning at 7 p.m. Thursday. The cost is $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers. To register, contact www.erikson.edu/register or (312) 893-7171.
My first mess: Toddlers ages 15 to 24 months explore messy art and science in a three-week class Friday and Jan. 18 and 25. Sessions are offered from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. The cost is $35 for members and $40 for nonmembers. Prepayment is required.
Jug band: Steven Keefe and the Family Jug Band present a performance that will have feet tapping and hands clapping from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Autism Family Night: The third Thursday of the month is for children with autism to come and play at the museum, but everyone is welcome. The museum is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 17. Resources on recreation, therapy providers, school issues and support organizations are available. Standard museum admission.
Hop 'n' bop: Children ages 2 and 3 step up to dance and rhythm from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 19. The cost is $12 for child and adult partners for members, $14 for nonmembers. Advance payment is required.
Bear Scout Day: Bear Scouts come in groups or individually to experiment with electricity and make their own electromagnet from 10 to 11 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon, 1 to 2 p.m. or 2 to 3 p.m. Jan. 21. Adults must stay with the Scouts. The cost is $8 for Scouts, $4.25 for adults.
Start in science: Toddler scientist ages 2 and 3 see how some things sink and some float Jan. 22. Sessions are offered from 9:45 to 10:15 am. and 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. The cost is $12 for child and adult partner for members, $14 for nonmembers. Advance payment is required.
Symphony performance: Members of the DuPage Symphony Orchestra perform from 10:30 to noon Jan. 26.
Zoom into engineering: Members of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers present engineering challenges for all ages from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 27.
Junior book group: Children ages 3 and 4 help bring a dramatic reading of the classic tale "Swimmy" to life with moving like a fish and artistic interpretation from 9:45 to 10:30 p.m. Jan. 29. Take a Polaroid picture home. The cost is $16 for a child and partner for members, $20 for nonmembers. Advance payment is required.
Children's portraits: See children's portraits and learn more about early childhood art with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. and a reception for young artists and their families from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 31.
