Saturday Morning Science -- Creatures of the Deep: Hands-on science for the entire family. Bring your family and learn about the creatures of the deep. Come ready for some science fun -- no sitting around in this class. Join the other mad scientists to explore and experiment. This science class for kids, age 8 to 12, and their parents will be held Jan. 19. Saturday Morning Science -- Creatures of the Deep will be held in the East room of the municipal annex from 10 to 11:30 a.m. It costs $15 for residents and $25 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is today.
Dodge Ball Open Gym: Bring your friends and prepare yourself for some dodgeball fun. Whether it is free-for-all or tournament-style, you are going to have a great time. This program is drop-in. No registration is required. Just show up and be ready to play. This open gym for kids in fourth to sixth grades will be held every Thursday, through Feb. 14. Dodge Ball will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at Fox Meadow Elementary School, 1275 Jenna Drive, South Elgin. It costs $5 per night for residents and $7 per night for nonresidents.
Fun Friday: Leave mom and dad at home and come join the "Everybody's Birthday Bash." Participants will enjoy birthday party games and crafts. Pretend it is your birthday and come join the fun. Juice, snack and all of the entertainment are provided. This special event for kids, age 3 to 10, will be Jan. 18. Fun Friday will be held in the North Room of the municipal annex from 6 to 10 p.m. It costs $12 for residents and $15 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is today.
Music, Imagination & Me: Bring your imagination and they will supply the fun. Each week will be centered around a fun theme with related stories, songs, finger plays and other activities. Each class will end with parachute and circle time. This weekly class for 3- to 4-year-olds begins Jan. 23 and concludes Feb. 20. Music, Imagination & Me will be held from 9 to 9:40 a.m. in the East Room of the municipal annex. It costs $32 for residents and $37 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Wednesday.
Art Gone Wild: Let your children explore art like never before. They will get messy and have a blast exploring a variety of art mediums every week. New projects will be created weekly. This weekly class for kids ages 3 to 5 will begin Jan. 24 and will conclude Feb. 21. Art Gone Wild will be held from 12:20 to 1 p.m. in the East Activity Room of the municipal annex. It costs $35 for residents and $40 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Jan. 17.
Young Einsteins: Join parks and recreation staff to make learning science fun and fascinating. Each week children will learn something new about science -- allowing them to experiment and explore. This weekly class for kids ages 3 to 5 will begin Jan. 24 and conclude Feb. 21. Young Einsteins will be held in the East Activity Room of the municipal annex from 10:15 to 10:55 a.m. It costs $35 for residents and $40 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Jan. 17.
Indoor T-ball Time: Boys and girls will have a blast learning how to play T-ball rain or shine. The class will take them through basic hitting, throwing, fielding, good sportsmanship, and how to run the bases. Bring a glove. The class is for 3- to 4-year-olds. It will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 19 through March 11. Costs are $32 for residents and $27 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Feb. 12.
Spring Lil' Kickers: Encourage the advancement of your child's motor skills for future sports participation. They will mix fun with skill development on smaller goals. Emphasis is on developing enjoyment of physical activity, fitness, and the game of soccer. The cost is $40 for resident and $50 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Feb. 15.
Adult Basketball Open Gym: Join other drop-ins for some exercise in the fall months. The adult basketball on a drop-in basis will allow individuals to shoot hoops by themselves or come together and play some pickup games. Either way you are guaranteed to have some fun. Basketballs provided by South Elgin Parks and Recreation Department. This open gym for those age 18 and older concludes Feb. 27. Open basketball will be held at Corron Elementary School from 7 to 9:30 p.m. It costs $4 per night.
