• Shots may have been fired Saturday during an attempted robbery in which a man was punched in the face after he told a group of three men that he didn't have any money, police said. Police said one of the men, who was wearing a red hoodie, punched the victim in the nose. When he fell to the ground, another man pulled out what looked to be a toy gun and fired it at the victim while he lay on the sidewalk, reports said. Police smelled gunpowder on the scene but were unable to recover any evidence or bullet casings, reports said. The three men last were seen running east on Watch Street and south on St. Charles Street. The victim was treated on the scene and released.
• A gold 1998 Chevrolet Malibu was stolen at 10:25 p.m. Saturday from the 400 block of Hastings, police said. They said the car's owner left the engine running for about 20 minutes. The car was gone when he went back outside.
• Police said a man selling jewelry in a strip mall's parking lot Saturday stole $72 from two women as they were attempting to buy gold chains from him. Police said the incident happened at 17 Clock Tower Plaza about 1 p.m. Reports said the man, selling gold chains from the inside of his coat, took $40 from one women and $32 from her friend, then grabbed the chains out of their hands, police said. He wore a black fur-collared jacket and last was seen running out of the parking lot.
