Palatine man wanted by Aurora police arrested

A 45-year-old man wanted by Aurora police was arrested in Naperville this weekend while working at a fast-food restaurant, authorities said Monday.

Police have been searching for William Jessup, who listed a Palatine address, since September. He is wanted on numerous felony charges for repeatedly violating an order of protection, police said.

Jessup was peacefully taken into custody around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at a restaurant on the 1500 block of North Naperville Road, police said.

Police said he has called two people who are named in orders of protection against him dozens of times since Sept. 4.

He is wanted on five felony counts of violating an order of protection and two felony counts of harassment by phone.

Jessup, who previously lived in Sugar Grove, has a lengthy record.

He was arrested in 2005 for calling a Texas-based check-reporting company more than 45 times in two weeks after a personal check of his didn't clear.

He also threatened to kill an employee and said there was a bomb inside the building, police said.

In 2004, Jessup was found guilty of battery for pushing a Sugar Grove police officer and in 1996 was convicted of forgery.

Aurora authorities had received several leads about him since fall but were unable to find him until a tip came through Sunday.

Jessup was transferred to the Kane County Correctional Center in Geneva Monday afternoon, where he was held in lieu of $19,500 cash bond.

His next court date is 9 a.m. Jan. 23 at the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles.
