5 hurt in Arlington Hts. crash

A motorist was airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and sections of Rand Road were blocked for much of Sunday evening following a multiple car collision at Wilke Road in Arlington Heights.

The collision occurred at 4:35 p.m. Arlington Heights Police Sgt. Rich Gausselin could not say how many cars were involved, but added that police investigators were still on the scene late Sunday assessing the damages.

In addition to the airlifted motorist, four other vehicle passengers were transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Gausellin said the injuries of the motorists weren't expected to be life-threatening.

No drivers were yet ticketed, but Gausellin said the collision remains under investigation.
