Lady Illini fall to Hoosiers
Illinois dropped its second consecutive conference road game, falling to Indiana. Down 29-21 at halftime, the Fighting Illini came out of the break fired-up, going on a 12-2 run capped by a Lacey Simpson jumper to take 33-31 lead at the 15:36 mark. The Illini (10-5, 2-2) took a 42-35 lead, their largest of the game, at the 12:43 mark. But the Hoosiers (9-6, 2-1) went on a 12-0 run to take control of the game and then sealed it down the stretch by hitting 9-of-10 from the free throw line.
"The message at halftime was that we needed to make sure we're the aggressors. We started creating opportunities and once you start doing those things, shots start falling and the basket looks a little bigger," said Illinois head coach Jolette Law.
