Bartell: I'm only true GOP candidate

(In response to a Daily Herald editorial endorsement of Bartell's opponent.)

As a devote Republican and active community volunteer, I decided to run in this race following the retirement announcement of Carolyn Krause, an honorable public servant.

I observed the only other candidate running in our Republican primary -- a gym teacher, who has never supported the Republican Party, has not voted Republican in over 10 years and whose agenda of expanding government, supporting taxpayer incentives to support illegal immigration, is against transportation and economic development of O'Hare Airport, one of our district's main economic engines for jobs and tax revenue -- is not Republican, entering the race with surprisingly key local support, for whatever hidden agenda.

The voters deserve a true Republican voice.

Everyone knows our state government is a mess. Democrats have a majority in all three branches of our government and manage a liberal agenda with feel-good programs and session grid-lock at taxpayer expense. This has been stifling our state's growth, running businesses and jobs out of Illinois.

We need and deserve a change in the way our state government is run. I offer a strong, energetic choice for change, and I am the Republican candidate in this race.

As the only fiscal conservative voice in this primary, I ask for your Republican vote on Feb. 5th, and pledge that I will use all of my business experience, energy, and drive to work with local officials to develop our district, implement the Star-Line, obtain capital transportation improvement funding, and take all measures for business development.

As a mother of school-age children, of course, I will also work toward education reforms which will help the children of Illinois, and attend to health care needs of our seniors and veterans.

Laura Bartell

Arlington Heights

Candidate, Illinois House

66th District
