Health & Fitness Challenge: In an effort to help the community adopt a healthier lifestyle, the Wheeling Park District is offering a 90-day Health and Fitness Challenge from today through April 6.

The program, inspired by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen, begins with a Body Age Assessment that compares body age to chronological age. The information from the test will be used by Wheeling Park District's nationally certified personal trainers to create a personalized workout plan designed to help achieve each individual's fitness goals. A midpoint personal training assessment will take place to evaluate how the plan is progressing. A final Body Age Assessment will be offered between April 5-12 to document the program's results.

Participants are entitled to attend a weekly yoga class, either from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays or 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays. Working out with resistance three times a week for 30 minutes and a half hour of daily cardiovascular exercise is also recommended. Instruction about preparing and eating foods without the "five key ingredients" also will be provided.

Participants earn points for completing the personal training sessions and assessments and attending yoga classes, cooking classes, daily cardio, strength sessions and group fitness classes. Those who earn enough points will be eligible to receive rewards including a three-month Fitness Center membership, 10-punch Punch Card, five pack of personal training sessions, eight-week yoga session and Dr. Oz's book "You: The Owner's Manual."

Sign up for the 90-Day Health and Fitness Challenge at the Wheeling Park District Fitness Center at the Community Recreation Center. The fee for nonmembers is $139 plus the cost of a three-month Fitness Center membership, or $109 for Fitness Center members. For more information, call (847) 465-2943.
