Reasons to back middle school ballot

I am writing in support of the Hubble Middle School referendum.

I have two sons who recently attended Hubble and one who will attend next fall.

There are several reasons I believe the referendum should be approved:

• I can attest that the current school absolutely needs to be replaced.

• The proposed site will place a new school closer to the students.

• Commercial development of the Hubble site will enhance the Wheaton tax base.

• Redevelopment of the site will allow a unique opportunity to present a new and dramatic gateway to downtown Wheaton.

Several months ago a citizens meeting was held during which five separate, well thought out designs were put forth.

No one knows what the final design might look like but the potential is exciting to think about.
